MADISON, Wis. -

Madison police say two arson cases reported over the weekend might be connected to two other crimes also reported in the same area.

Police reported two trees were lit on fire and a public book-sharing stand was burned Saturday on the 1800 block of Camelot Drive. According to the report, during the early-morning hours, someone doused two evergreen trees in separate yards with gasoline and ignited them.

A "take a book leave a book" stand was also burned, police said. The report said it looked like the fire-starter used the books to start the blaze.

Now police say a tree in Everglade Park, at 406 Everglade Dr., was set on fire, likely early Saturday morning. The tree's trunk and grass at the base were burned.

A 36-year-old man reported the windows were broken out of his car at about the same time of the arson on Camelot Drive. Police said the car was parked in the 5400 block of Lake Mendota Drive and an ax was found next to the car.
