Beloit to add dual language immersion program to more schools

BELOIT, Wis. -

The Beloit School District announced it is expanding its Dual Language Immersion program to more schools, according to a release.

The DLI classes were at Hackett and Robinson elementary schools last school year and the district is responding to parents’ demands for the classes by including them in other schools, according to the release.

According to the release, Converse and Todd elementary schools, in addition to Hackett and Robinson, will have DLI classes starting this fall.

Todd, Hackett and Robinson elementary schools will have both kindergarten and first-grade DLI sections available, while Converse will being with a kindergaten section, according to the release.

The district decided expansion was possible after the waiting list continued to grow and they were able to invest in space and staffing, according to the release.

According to the release, students new to the program can begin at kindergarten or first grade, and first grade is the latest recommendation time for entry into the DLI program.

Next year, the district plans to add second grade at the schools and so on as the program progresses along with the students, according to the release.

To submit a request to enter the program, parents can stop by the Central Enrollment Office to fill out the application form.
