MADISON, Wis. -

A Madison Metropolitan School District Board of Education candidate forum is set for March 21 at Operation Fresh Start.

The public is encouraged to attend and guests will have an opportunity to ask questions of the candidates. Specific items expected to be discussed will include: drop-out rates and drop-out recovery efforts, goals for the new superintendent, labor relations and the school board budget, according to an Operation Fresh Start news release.

Young people involved in Operation Fresh Start will participate in the forum.

Operation Fresh Start is Dane County's largest employment, education and training program for disconnected youth ages 16-24 who have not succeeded in traditional high school settings.

Through direct programming and collaboration, Fresh Start provides a path forward, including helping young people attain educational goals and employability skills necessary to become productive, self-sufficient members of the community, according to the news release.

In the 2012/2013 school year, Operation Fresh Start and MMSD began a Pathways Partnership though which students completing the Fresh Start program, including academic achievement, will attain a MMSD high school diploma.

The candidate forum will be held from 3:30 p.m. through 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, March 21 at Operation Fresh Start, 1925 Winnebago St.
