10 receive scholarships to pursue degrees in medical field

JANESVILLE, Wis. -

Five students and five adult students pursuing degrees in the medical field were awarded scholarships from the Mercy Health System Association of Volunteers, according to a release.

High school senior recipients of $1,000 scholarships included Karmen Bailey from Parker High School, Ryan Cook from Craig High School, Hannah Grobelny from Elkhorn Area High School, Courtney Huellen from Prairie Ridge High School and Alexis Roach from Craig High School.

Bailiey plans to study physical therapy at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Cook plans to study dentistry and orthodonistry at Marquette University. Grobelny plans to study nutrition at Viterbo University. Huellen plans to study speech pathology and audiology at Illinois State University. Roach plans to study biochemistry at the University of Wisconsin -Madison.

Adult scholarship recipients of $1,000 include Gretchen Rusch of Edgerton, Susan Geise of Beloit, Joy Brunke of Edgerton, Jennifer Kelley of Janesville and Nicole Broitzman of Janesville.

Rusch and Broitzman are pursuing associate’s degrees in radiography. Geise, Brunke and Kelley are pursuing associate’s degrees in nursing. All adult students will be attending Blackhawk Technical College.
