Edgewood takes second in Division 2 state team tennis

The Edgewood boys tennis team finished 2014 as Division 2 state runner-ups.

Madison, WIS. -

The Edgewood boys tennis team finished 2014 as Division 2 state runner-ups.

They started championship Saturday by defeating Eau Claire Regis in the team semifinals 6-1.

But they ran into powerhouse University School of Milwaukee in the final. Edgewood fell 7-0.

It's University School's ninth Division 2 title in 11 years.

The Oregon Panthers were the only local team in Division 1 playing on Saturday. They lost 7-0 to Eau Claire Memorial in the semifinals.

This was the Panthers first trip to boys team state tennis.

Brookfield East wins the team title.
