MADISON – Edgar V. Thompson, age 87, passed away on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013, at Agrace HospiceCare.

He was born on Dec. 7, 1925, in Dane, to Ted and Esther (Shillinglaw) Thompson. Edgar was a long time resident of Madison. He was employed with Oscar Mayer for over 33 years. He was a Veteran of WWII, serving with the United States Marines. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, bowling and fishing.

Edgar is survived by two nephews, Lyle (Wanda) Rickman and family of Cross Plains and Larry (Jane) Rickman of Madison. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Beth (Burl) Rickman.

Funeral services will be held at DANE IMMANUEL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, 300 N. Military Rd., Dane, at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2013. Burial will be at Arlington Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
