Eau Claire Memorial's Jake Bresser named "Mr. Hockey"

Eau Claire Memorial senior Jake Bresser was named the Wisconsin Hockey Coaches Association Player of the Year Wednesday night at the WHCA awards banquet in Madison.

Bresser has scored 56 goals this season in leading the defending state champion Old Abes back to the WIAA Boys State Hockey tournament again this week. Bresser also has 23 assists for 79 points in just 27 games this season.

Other Player of the Year finalists included Verona's Charlie Parker, Ashwaubenon's Matt Berkovitz, a UW recruit, Notre Dame's Mason Appleton and Brett Gruber, Waukesha's Zed Dietrich, Wisconsin Rapids' Caleb Schroer and Fond du Lac's Michael Wilson.
