Doris A. Gilbert

MADISON-Doris A. Gilbert, age 91, of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2013, at St. Mary’s Hospital.

She was born on Dec. 14, 1921, in Roseville, Ill., the daughter of Orville L. and Gladys M. (Wilkins) Damitz. She married George Gilbert in Madison and attended school in Illinois. Doris was a homemaker, housekeeper, and crossing guard at Longfellow School. She enjoyed taking care of her plants and shopping for clothes at Savers. Doris also loved to walk, her animals, read, and was known to always look her best.

She is survived by her daughter, Darlene (Steve) Andorfer of Madison; granddaughter, Maryann (Larry) Hamielec; great-granddaughter, Amber; great-grandson, Andrew; half brother, Larry Damitz; along with numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1976; and sister, Geraldine.

Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 19, 2013, with the Rev. Gail Brown presiding. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.
