DeForest, Fort Atkinson advance in WIAA boys golf

DeForest and Fort Atkinson advanced to the WIAA State Division One Boys Golf tournament by finishing first and second in the sectional competition at Watertown Country Club Wednesday.

Connor Simon led the Norskies with a 75 while Nate Gilbert matched that score to lead the Blackhawks.

DeForest's team total was 322 while Fort shot 328. Beaver Dam was third with 337, Badger fourth at 339. Sun Prairie and Burlington tied for fifth with 342 totals.

Watertown's Eric Jahnke was the medalist for the meet with 73. He'll go to state as an individual qualifier.

Beaver Dam' Ian Statz will also play at state after finishing second with 74.
