Cubs beat Brewers, 3-0

Kyle Hendricks allowed six hits over seven innings as the Chicago Cubs defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 3-0 at Wrigley Field Tuesday night.

Hendricks (4-1) made only his sixth major league start and lowered his earned run average to 1.74 for the season.

The Cubs gave Hendricks the lead in the second inning when Justin Ruggiano singled to left to score Arismendy Alcantara.

Alcantara made it a 2-0 lead in the fourth when he singled to right off Wily Peralta (14-7) to score Starlin Castro.

Anthony Rizzo added an insurance run for the Cubs in the sixth when homered to center field, his 26th homer of the season.

Hector Rondon pitched the ninth for the Cubs to earn his 15th save of the season.
