FITCHBURG, Wis. -

A person was taken to the hospital by helicopter Tuesday morning after suffering injuries in a Fitchburg crash.

The Fitchburg Police Department said officers responded to a report of a two-car crash on Highway 14 north of Byrne Road.

A northbound vehicle lost control due to black ice on the roadway, according to police. The vehicle was then hit by another vehicle. The driver of the vehicle that initially lost control received head injuries and was transported by Med Flight to an area hospital.

Officials closed the southbound lanes of Highway 14 at Lacy Road for about 30 minutes. Northbound traffic was restricted to one lane. The lanes reopened at 8:22 a.m.
