Craigslist 'buyer' steals cellphone

A man claiming to be interested in buying a cellphone on Craigslist robbed the seller, according to a release from Madison police.

The 32-year-old victim told police he arranged to meet the buyer via text message and sell the phone for $450. The men met at the Citgo gas station at 1010 N. Sherman Ave. Thursday night.

The victim said the man asked to see the phone and once it was in his hand he said he had a gun and threatened to shoot him. No weapon was seen and the man fled.

The robber is described as black, in his early 30s, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing a white T-shirt, black jeans, white shoes and a black baseball cap.
