Clarendon M. "Carnie" Bradley

Monona-Clarendon M. “Carnie” Bradley, age 90 passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2013.

He was born on Aug. 24, 1922, in Hampden Township in Columbia County, the son of William C. and Petra P. (Holte) Bradley.

Carnie graduated from DeForest High School in 1940. He married Elaine Newburg on June 30, 1945, at Norway Grove Lutheran Church in DeForest. Carnie was a Corporal in the Army Air Corps during WWII, having served in Africa and Italy. He was a member of the first Badger Honor Flight out of Madison. Carnie was a shop foreman for 30 years at Gisholt Machine Co and later worked for Academy Electric for 14 years, retiring in 1985. He was a member of the VFW Post #7591, the Madison Elks Club #410 and Trinity Lutheran Church where he served in the Usher’s Club since 1952. Carnie and Elaine loved to travel and traveled to all 50 states and twice to Norway to visit relatives. He enjoyed bowling and playing cards.

He is survived by his daughter, Carla; son, Bruce (Nancy) Bradley; granddaughter, Amanda. Carnie was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 67 years, Elaine; two infant children, Mark and Lisa; four brothers, Willard, Lloyd, Jay and Franklin; and two sisters, Carol and Virginia.

Funeral services will be held at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1904 Winnebago Street, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 25, 2013, with the Rev. Susan Schneider presiding. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Monday, June 24, 2013, with VFW Post #7591 to Pass in Review at 7:00 p.m., and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday.
