Madison’s Charles Hamilton Houston Institute is dedicated to preparing Black and other youth for economic independence. Drawing inspiration from the prominent lawyer and civil rights activist Charles Hamilton Houston, the Madison institute’s mission is the serve the Black community, and strengthen the entire community by focusing on self-esteem, goal setting, academic achievement, work skills, business opportunities and citizenship for Black and other youth.

Established here in 2001 and boasting a Board past and present of some of Madison’s most respected Black leaders, the Institute is holding its First Annual Awards Luncheon next Tuesday at the Concourse Hotel and the honorees, including Professor Jim Jones and Ms. Joan Jones, Bishop Eugene Johnson, long-time Mayoral assistant Wanda Fullmore, Omega School’s Oscar Mireles and others are all difference makers. The keynote speaker is Emmy Award winning Judge Greg Mathis. This is an important event honoring terrific people. But it’s important to note seats are limited and we encourage you to visit www.chhimadison.org as soon as possible to purchase tickets.
