Brewers win in Miami

MIAMI -

Yovani Gallardo pitched eight shutout innings and Rickie Weeks had homer and three hits as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Miami Marlins Monday night, 6-1.

Gallardo (5-6) allowed just four hits, one walk and no runs as he had one of his best outings of the season. He also picked up his 1,000th strikeout in the major leagues.

The Marlins scored their only run in the ninth off Brewers reliever Donovan Hand.

Weeks went three for five with his fifth homer of the season.

Jonathan Lucroy also had four hits and two RBI for the Brewers. Carlos Gomez went three for five with two RBI and his 13th stolen base of the season.

Ricky Nolasco (3-7) took the loss for the Marlins who own the worst record in the National League at 18-35.
