Brewers power up to defeat Rangers, 9-3
Carlos Gomez and Mark Reynolds hit their first home runs of spring training and also doubled, and Marco Estrada allowed four hits in six scoreless innings Tuesday in the Milwaukee Brewers' 9-3 win over a Texas Rangers' split squad.
Batting leadoff for the second straight game, Gomez got the Brewers' first hit with a fourth-inning double and scored on Jonathan Lucroy's groundout.
Reynolds doubled home Rickie Weeks in the fifth, and Gomez hit a three-run homer off Martin Perez.
Reynolds added a two-run drive in the sixth against Michael Kirkman that bounced off the top of the center-field wall and was upheld by video review.
Engel Beltre's bunt single was upheld after a video review in the second -- Reynolds' foot was off first base when he received the throw from third baseman Aramis Ramirez.
Perez allowed five runs and five hits in five innings.
Brewers starter Marco Estrada was sharp. He pitched six innings allowing just four hits and no runs. Estrada also struck out five batters.
