Monona Grove holds off Edgewood 50-42

MONONA, Wis. -

Mark Nelson Jr. led Monona Grove with 20 points as the Silver Eagles beat Edgewood 50-42 Thursday night in  Badger South conference boys basketball game Thursday night.

MG is now 11-1 and 6-0 in conference.

MG led by six at the half, but Edgewood's Alex Wendler got hot and hit five three pointers.  His last three made it 36-35 late in the third quarter but MG pulled away.

They outscored Edgewood 11-6 in the fourth quarter, and Nelson had a big steal and score to push the lead to five points late.

MG is ranked sixth in the state for Division 2 boys basketball. They face top ranked Mount Horeb Saturday at 7p.m. in Deforest for the Badger Challenge.
