ST. FRANCIS, WI -

Jim Boylan won't be back as the head coach of the Milwaukee Bucks next season.

Boylan met with general manager John Hammond Wednesday morning and was informed the team would head in a different direction.

Boylan was named the interim head coach after Scott Skiles was fired January 8.

The Bucks made the playoffs for the first time in three years, but were swept by the Miami Heat in four straight in the first round.

Under Boylan, the Bucks were 22 and 28 and finished the regular season with a 38-44 record.

"At this time, we fell it's in the best interest of the organization to seek a new coach to lead our team," Hammond said. "We appreciate Jim's efforts not only in his time as head coach, but in his entire tenure as a coach in Milwaukee.

Boylan was a Bucks assistant coach for four years before he became interim head coach this season.
