Wisconsin Badgers linebacker Chris Borland was named first team All-American by the Football Writers Association of America Wednesday.

Borland is the first defensive player from Wisconsin on an All-America first team since Erasmus James in 2004.

Borland finished the regular season third in the Big Ten with over nine tackles a game.

He was named the Nagurski-Woodson Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year and is a consensus All-Big Ten first team selection.
