The Spam Report: Day #156: "YOUR URGENT REPLY NEEDED"

Published On: Jun 04 2014 08:56:58 AM CDT
Schrager spam

News 3 Investigative Reporter Adam Schrager

MY DESK: MADISON -

"Sorry if you received this letter in your spam."

That's my takeaway from the email sent by "Mr. Yerlan Hamad," the manager of auditing and accounting from the Bank of Africa branch in Burkina Faso. He apparently found me, his "Friend," "while searching for a business oriented personality and you happen to be the one."

I'm the one. I'm the one. Where was he when I was bucking the trend as a kid and not selling lemonade at a stand, but doubles of my baseball cards? I could have used that kind of business acumen back then.

Anyhow, I digress. He apologized near the end of the email if I "received this letter in your spam." He blamed it on a "recent connection error here in my country."

I blame it on the fact that it is what it is. If it looks like a duck, sounds like a duck, walks like a duck, it's a duck.

Spam finds its way into a spam filter lots of the time... It did in this case and I released it just for the purposes of mocking it.

Does that make me a bad person on Channel 3's Day of Kindness? Oh well, I'll suffer that fate if need be.

Just hit delete.

Adam
