If there is any certainty about the future of health care, and there isn’t much, it’s the need for skilled, innovative care providers – doctors, physician assistants, technicians and nurses. We will need new care models to be sure, and that likely means taking advantage of any collaborative relationships that can advance these ideas.

This week, Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin announced a one million dollar gift to Edgewood College to create a new nursing innovation center. The Group Health Cooperative of South Central Wisconsin Center for Primary Care Innovation will train Edgewood College nursing students in what calls innovative, progressive models of primary care delivery, a role nurses will increasingly be called upon to play.

We think these two partners are uniquely well suited to working together on this important effort in terms of learning environment, care philosophies and the roles each play in the community. It’s an example, dare we say it, of being better together.
