Baraboo woman suffers life-threatening injuries in Columbia Co. crash

POYNETTE, Wis. -

A Baraboo woman suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash on Interstate 39 Saturday night that was allegedly caused by a drunken driver, officials said.

Crews responded to reports of a two-vehicle crash around 12:54 a.m. Sunday on southbound Interstate 39 at mile maker 114.6 in Columbia County near Poynette, according to a release.

A Toyota Scion and a Toyota Corolla were traveling southbound on I-39/90/94 when they collided, investigators said. The Corolla went into the media, rolled over and stopped in the northbound lanes. The Scion stopped in the southbound lanes.

The driver of the Corolla, Gabriella Skaife, 33, of Baraboo, was taken to UW Hospital by Med Flight with life-threatening injuries, according to the release. The driver of the Scion, Scott R. Albrecht, 34, of Oronoco, Minn., was treated for minor injuries, and was arrested on charges of causing injury by intoxicated use of a vehicle.
