PLEASANT PRAIRIE, Wis. -

Officials in Pleasant Prairie said tests found the drinking water is safe on a farm where buried horses were found.

The village said an independent lab analyzed samples collected from two wells on the property and found the water safe for drinking.

Water in a nearby stream was tested by the Department of Natural Resources and also found to be safe.

Kenosha County sheriff's investigators said nearly 70 animal carcasses were found buried on a couple's property in Pleasant Prairie.

David and Paula White face a number of animal neglect charges after five dead horses were found in stalls at their farm last month. Nearly two dozen horses, some malnourished, were seized.

Deputy Chief David Morgensen told WISN-TV they found decomposing horses buried under carcasses on the ground.
