The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) reported that the number of cosmetic procedures performed in the United States rose in 2013. According to ASPS, the number of cosmetic surgery procedures was up 3 percent from 2012 to 15.1 million procedures.

The ASPS said new products and technology may be behind the increase in plastic surgery procedures. New products in 2013 included two form-stable silicone gel breast implants and a hyaluronic acid facial filler, according to ASPS.

According to ASPS, minimally-invasive procedures increased 3 percent in 2013. The top procedure was Botulinum toxin type A, which was up 3 percent with 6.3 million injections.

The number of cosmetic surgical procedures rose 1 percent to about 1.7 procedures in 2013, according to ASPS. The top procedure was breast augmentation, which was up 1 percent with 290,000 procedures.
