MADISON, Wis. -

Area snowmobile trails were back open Wednesday, Dane County officials said.

The Council of Snowmobile Clubs and the Dane County Parks Division said the recent snowfall provided a snow base for the recreational vehicles and trails were reopened at noon. The trails will stay open as long as there is adequate snow depth and steady below freezing temperatures.

Council of Snowmobile Clubs said snowmobilers should use caution on the trails. During the last warm spell, water collected in low areas along the trails and operators may encounter ice under the newly fallen snow.

The only trail remaining closed is Trail 29N from the city of Stoughton to Lake Kegonsa, which has been closed for the season.
