Following one of the most politically turbulent years in our history, how about we return to some kind of normalcy in terms of civic issues.

Of course, that would mean we agree that climate change, Madison’s public schools, redistricting reform, and regional job creation and economic development are “normal” civic issues.

Our impact on the environment, the education of our children, the fairness of our political system and the health of the economies of our communities are exactly the issues we need to address this year. Their effects on our families, our neighborhoods, our government and our world are both extraordinary and within our ability to have an influence.

We intend to do so, on those four agenda issues, and a fifth that's intended to include you, our viewers and readers.

We call it "Our Climate, Our Schools, Our Government, Our Region and The Viewers Agenda".

All are issues we share, as citizens, as fellow humans. They comprise our editorial agenda for 2013, and we’ll roll them out one by one starting Tuesday.
