Virginia R. Jersild

Virginia R. Jersild, age 78, of Janesville, died Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012, at St. Mary's Janesville Hospital. She was born in Janesville on Oct. 2, 1934, the daughter of Lloyd and Beulah (Horn) Algrem and was a 1953 graduate of Janesville High School. Ginny married Ronald L. Jersild on Oct. 20, 1957, in Janesville. He preceded her in death on Feb. 2, 1966. She was employed as the office manager for Schneider Funeral Home from 1974 until her retirement in 1998. A long-time member of First Lutheran Church, Ginny was active in the choir, various church boards and served as the coordinator of the church bazaar for years. She enjoyed bowling, playing bridge, gardening and her flowers, going for walks and riding her bike, but most important in life was her family, friends and her home.

She is survived by her 2 daughters, Julie (John) Roth of Minneapolis, and Dr. Dena (Carl) Jersild DeStefano of Winfield, IL; 2 grandchildren, Elsabet and Joren Roth; 5 siblings: Lois Birmingham and Lloyd Algrem both of Janesville, Barbara Dietsch of Mission Viejo, CA, David (Joan) Algrem of Oshkosh, and Paul (Carol) Algrem of Green Bay; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY with Rev. George Bauman officiating. Burial will follow in Milton Lawns Memorial Park. Visitation will take place on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service at the SCHNEIDER APFEL SCHNEIDER & SCHNEIDER FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
