Vet says drug fraud case caused suspension

Published On: Apr 05 2013 02:16:51 PM CDT
SHEBOYGAN, Wis. -

A Sheboygan County Humane Society veterinarian says he was suspended for blowing the whistle on the organization's director, who's charged with drug fraud.

Rick Lord says he told authorities his license was fraudulently used by the director to purchase drugs from a New Jersey pharmacy. The director, Eilene Ribbens, is charged with drug fraud and drug possession. A criminal complaint says Ribbens purchased the drugs for pets of relatives who couldn't afford them. It alleges she claimed she was a vet technician when she placed the order.

Lord tells the Sheboygan Press that Ribbens asked him to buy drugs for her friends and got angry when he refused.

The president of the Humane Society's board, Sher Quasius, refutes Lord's assertion that his suspension was related to the drug purchase. She won't say why he was suspended.
