DeForest – Verna Thorpe, age 93, left her body behind on December 7, 2012 to be with her son, Dennis and husband, Milton and many other family members. She was born on October 12, 1919. She lived her entire life in Wisconsin. She married Milton Thorpe and they were blessed with 65 years together, filled with music, square dancing and entertaining others. Together they planned 30 annual Square Dance Conventions for the State of Wisconsin.

She will be missed by all of us. We will forever miss her kind heart, her patience, understanding; her love and pride for her grandsons and, of course, her chocolate chip cookies.

She is survived by her daughter, Betty (Ronald) Peterson; sister, Beverly (Gene) Gerber; grandsons, Jody (Kim) Peterson and Jason (Megan DeRungs) Peterson; great-granddaughter, Sabrina Rateike; and not to be forgotten, the three Bumpus Hounds, Sassy, Ziola and Abby.

She was preceded in death by her son, Dennis; husband Milton; sister, Helen Hopwood and her parents.

No formal funeral service will be held.

A very special thanks to the staff at Serenity Homes for loving and caring for her these past years. Also thank you Heartland Hospice Care for your superb services.

"Mom…I am so happy you will be with Denny and Dad. The music is playing – you and Dad will be dancing together again!"

Until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hands.
