VERONA, WI -

Verona was supposed to host reigning D1 State Champion Sun Prairie on the diamonds on Tuesday. Due to a soggy field, the game was postponed.

Verona head coach Brad D'Orzio has coached at Verona for 12 years. He says he's never seen such poor conditions.

"In all my years at Verona, I've never seen it like this. there have been a couple years where we've had to remove some snow, but never like this."

The players agree. Senior Derek Witte notes last year's 75-degree temperatures on try-out day. Witte also says it hasn't helped the Wildcats on the field.

"As an outfielder, it;s hard to get good work in, because you can't track fly balls in the gym."

Verona says they hope to get their first game in Saturday.
