Rowan D. Hollis

Sun Prairie, WI/Rowan D. Hollis, age 78, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2013 at UW Hospital in Madison. He was born on January 25, 1935 in the Town of Montrose in Dane County to his parents Cloyce and Genevieve (Pernot) Hollis. Rowan graduated from Belleville High School. He then served as a machinist’s mate in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1958. After his military service Rowan graduated from UW-Platteville and UW-Stout with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in education. He taught high school Industrial Arts, owned and operated the tavern Patches in Sun Prairie, WI, Served as Vice President Dane County Tavern League of WI, and also worked as a truck driver. Rowan loved to dance and live life to the fullest, He left many a dance partner with the memories of the last dance.

Rowan is survived by his sons Phillip (Patty) Hollis of Plover, WI and Cary Hollis of Plover, WI, a daughter Brenda (Nick) Link of Columbus, WI, Grandchildren; Jennifer, Heather (Bruce) Sexton, Kyle, and Zackary, great- grandchildren; Javin, Jerianne. He is further survived by brothers; Wilbur Hollis, Neil Hollis, and David (Joanne) Hollis, a sister Nadine (Don) Ward, and a sister-in-law Joan Hollis.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Sheldon Hollis and Everett Hollis, and sisters-in-law Sue Hollis and Pat Hollis.

A graveside inurnment service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, April 7, 2013 at East Dayton Cemetery, Dayton, WI with military honors.

In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested the American Diabetes Association.

The Becker-Beal Funeral Home of Belleville is serving the family.
