Rosemary "Rose" Breitkreutz

MADISON-Rosemary “Rose” Breitkreutz, age 77, of Madison, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, surrounded by family in Madison. She was born on Feb. 21, 1936, in Bear Valley, the daughter of Peter and Frances Munz. She married Larry Breitkreutz on July 1, 1961, in Dubuque, Iowa. Rose worked in food service for UW-Madison for more than 20 years. She enjoyed cooking; she was known for making amazing homemade noodles and loved making Christmas cookies with the grandchildren. She was a very generous, and thrifty woman, and was always as patient as a saint. Rose was an avid bowler and enjoyed watching football. She was an avid Packers and Badgers fan. In her free time, you could find Rose volunteering.

She is survived by her husband, Larry; daughters, Dawn Marty and Carol Homan; granddaughters, Nicole (Chris) Johnson and Sara (Kyle Rouzan) Homan; grandsons, Josh (Cyndi) Marty, Rich Homan, and Nick (Brittany Koenig) Marty; great-grandchildren, Eric Marty, Michael and Lizzie Johnson; cat, Ezra; two brothers; a sister; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sons-in-law, Leon Marty Jr. and Rick Homan; sister-in-law, Ida Breitkreutz; two brothers; a sister; and nephew, Daniel Munz.

Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at Noon on Friday, March 1, 2013, with Father Kent Schmitt presiding. Burial will follow the service at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, and also from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.
