BELOIT, Wis. -

Beloit police said the community should expect traffic delays during Biden’s Friday morning visit.

Beloit Police Chief Norm Jacobs said the department is preparing for potential delays to nonemergency services during the vice president's campaign visit to the city.

“The top priority [is] helping [make Biden’s] visit a success for the community,” Jacobs stated in a news release Wednesday.

Police said the delays will be most noticeable while Biden is moving in the community and at local venues before and after his scheduled 11:15 a.m. appearance at Aldrich Middle School on Northgate Drive.

Melissa Badger, spokeswoman for the Beloit schools, said Biden's stop at the middle school will be a memorable opportunity for the students.

“We are pleased to have [students] see the democratic process up close,” Badger stated in a news release Wednesday.

Beloit police began planning Monday with neighboring law enforcement agencies to assist federal agents during the event.

Beloit police are teaming with the Rock County Sheriff’s Department, Janesville Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Dane County Sheriff’s Department, Rockford Police, Illinois State Police, Winnebago County sheriff, Beloit Fire Department and Beloit Department of Public Works in anticipation of the visit.

Biden will also visit Superior Middle School on Hammond Avenue in Superior, Wis., Friday at 3 p.m.
