Police: Suspected drunken driver nearly hits pedestrian

MADISON, Wis. -

Madison police said they arrested a driver on a charge of fourth offense operating a vehicle while intoxicated Friday night.

Several concerned citizens called for police just before 11 p.m. after seeing a suspected drunken driver weaving all over the road on East Washington Avenue, nearly hitting a pedestrian and another car. Witnesses said the car got off on Highway 30.

Police said an officer caught up with the car just before the driver struck a curb and bounced back onto the roadway on North Thompson Drive near Swanton Road.

The driver, identified as Nary S. Ourn, 29, of Madison, was pulled over on Stein Avenue at Swanton Road and arrested on the drunken-driving charge, according to a Madison Police Department incident report.

Police said her breath alcohol test registered a .291 percent.
