MADISON, Wis. -

Lt. Patricia Ninmann of Burnett has been appointed by Gov. Scott Walker as the next Dodge County sheriff, according to an announcement released Friday.

Ninmann will fill out the remaining term of Sheriff Todd Nehls, who retired March 8. His term runs through January 2015.

Ninmann has 20 years of experience in law enforcement starting as a communications officer in the Beaver Dam Police Department. She became a sergeant in the Dodge County Sheriff's Office in 2003. She was promoted to lieutenant in February 2012. She has also been the Horicon School Board President since 2009.

“Lt. Ninmann’s dedication to protecting the citizens of Dodge County is clear and I am confident her background will provide the residents of Dodge County with a responsible sheriff,” said Gov. Walker. “With this appointment, Dodge County will have a sheriff with a lengthy law enforcement history as well as a commitment to community service.”

Ninmann said she's honored by the appointment.
