STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -

Nebraska 68, Penn State 64: Shavon Shields scored a career-high 29 points and Ray Gallegos added 15 as the visiting Cornhuskers survived a wild finish and held off the Nittany Lions.

Penn State (8-10, 0-6 Big Ten) had a chance to take the lead with under 30 seconds left, when D.J. Newbill was fouled going to the basket after forcing a turnover and Brandon Ubel was called for a flagrant foul on the same play. Newbill and Ross Travis combined to hit one of the four free throws and Jermaine Marshall, who was fouled on the ensuing possession, missed both of his chances to leave Nebraska with a 66-64 edge.
