MILTON, Wis. -

The Milton Red Hawks held off Stoughton in a wrestling dual meet between two tradition-rich programs in Milton Wednesday night, 35-22.

Stoughton got off to a good start in the first match of the night at 145 pounds as Kyle Moore decisioned Milton's Evan Whitehead in overtime 8-6.

But the Red Hawks' Jeff Meyer won a 13-2 major decision over Stoughton's Patrick Reilly to start a run of Milton wins that included 160 pounder John McCarthy, 170 pounder Bowen Wileman, Avery Sweeney at 182 and Zach Arneson at 195.

Stoughton rallied behind wins from Jesse Adams at 220 and  Jesse Nelson at 285 to eventually tie the meet at 22-22.

Milton then won the rest of the matches. Alex Chesmore at 126 and Sean Gohlke at 132 posted victories to make the final score, Milton 35, Stoughton 22.
