MCFARLAND- Michael A. “Mike” Harried, age 52, of McFarland, died unexpectedly at home of apparent natural causes on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012. The son of Hjalmer “Jim” and Loraine Harried, Mike grew up in McFarland attending McFarland Schools K-12. He graduated from the Wisconsin School of Electronics. Mike worked for Norland Corporation in Fort Atkinson, Viking Instruments in Monona and most recently the Wisconsin State Patrol Chemical Test Section. He was a Village Trustee of McFarland from 1997 until 2005 (four consecutive two year terms), Village President from 2007 until present (third two year term) and many various village committees. He was a member of the Madison Curling Club, where he served on the Board of Directors and was an avid curler. Mike was currently serving on the Utica Community Association. He was a member of the Dane County Village and Towns Committee and a member of Dane Com. Mike was a member of Hope Lutheran Church since 1965. He will be remembered for being very generous of his time and talents with his family and the community.

Mike is survived by his parents; brothers and sister, Mark (Marcia), their children, Amanda, Brittany and Daniel of New Glarus, Cheryl (Jay) Wilson, and their children, Meghan, Morgan and Marissa of Verona, Eric (Tanisha), and their children, Chelsey, Whitney, Jack and Jaret of Cottage Grove and Marshall, and David and his daughter, Ellie of McFarland; paternal grandmother Vera Harried of Stoughton; and many relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at HOPE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 3702 County Road AB, McFarland, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, with the Rev. Chris Lee-Thompson presiding. Burial will be at Hope Cottage Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, and also at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday. Memorials may be made in Mike’s name to the McFarland Historical Society Larsen House or the American Diabetes Association for research.
