JANESVILLE, Wis. -

A Rock County manufacturer is looking to expand and add 70 new jobs.

Goex wants to expand its facility on Janesville's northeast side, but the company needs about five more acres of land.

Josh Gray, the company's president, said that over the past 10 years, Goex has seen double-digit growth.

Goex transforms raw materials into things like gift cards and packaging.

Gray said the company's 75,000-square-foot facility is too small.

"Due to being landlocked and some of the other infrastructural improvements, we're looking at either expanding or relocating the business," Gray said.

The company owns 24 acres about a mile north of its current facility. Gray said the company would like to move and build a 150,000-square-foot facility there.

Gray said it's crucial for the company to move closer to a railroad.

"We currently don't have the ability to accept raw materials by rail and that is becoming increasingly more important in our business," Gray said.

To build a new facility, the company would need another five acres of farmland and would need to retool an intersection.

John Beckord, president of Forward Janesville, said the expansion could bring other companies.

"There would have to be a controlled interchange there a frontage road. The city of Janesville and the Department of Transportation are working with them to get that done in a timely manner," Beckord said.

Goex's current facility already runs three shifts with its 130 employees. An expansion could keep the company in Janesville for years to come.

"We're privately held and have a vested interest in Janesville and the community," Gray said.

The Rock County Board is expected vote on Thursday whether to sell five acres of farmland to Goex for the expansion.

Gray said the company's expansion plans should be completed by the end of next year.
