Man sentenced in fatal drunken driving crash

Published On: Dec 03 2012 09:52:22 PM CST
MADISON, Wis. -

A man convicted of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle was sentenced Monday.

Edward Patrisio was sentenced to four years in prison and five years on extended supervision.

Last July, a crash on Northport Drive killed Patrisio's passenger, Phillip Onani, and injured several others.

Onani's family requested a light sentence for Patrisio.

Taking that into consideration, Dane County Circuit Court Judge William Hanrahan said his decision won't be harsh but reasonable.

"But, during that time, I want you to look around see opportunities that you've squandered and see the opportunities that are presented to you, and make the most of it. For you, and for Phillip Onani and for your family and for his family," Hanrahan said.

The judge said Patrisio must remain absolutely sober and will not be allowed anywhere where alcohol is primarily sold.
