A Brooklyn man is accused of sexually assaulting his girlfriend and shooting her dog, according to the Green County Sheriff's Office.

Guy D. Jensen, 61, is charged with second-degree sexual assault, battery, and two counts of disorderly conduct, all as domestic abuse crimes. He's also charged with mistreatment of animals while using a dangerous weapon.

Officers were called to a home on King Road on the town of Brooklyn on April 5 for a report of a sexual assault. Deputies said Jensen was armed and taken into custody outside the home as detectives questioned his 62-year-old live-in girlfriend, who said she had lived with Jensen on-and-off for eight years.

The girlfriend told detectives Jensen shot her Portuguese water dog with a .45-caliber revolver in a wooded area near his home a few days earlier. She said she believed Jensen shot the dog to intimidate her. The report states Jensen later admitted to shooting the dog and told detectives where they could find the dog's body.

A police report stated that Jensen had nonconsensual sex with her by striking her repeatedly on her head and torso. The victim said she was afraid and didn't resist.

A detective said in the report Jensen was taking advantage of his girlfriend through fear and intimidation. The victim told detectives she felt like a prisoner in her own home.

A preliminary hearing for Jensen is scheduled for April 15.
