Louise M. Freeding

MADISON/MONONA-Louise M. Freeding, age 94, of Madison, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Kirkland Crossing in Pewaukee. She was born on March 17, 1918, in Chicago, the daughter of Gerald and Marie (Vander Maden) Fransen. Louise married Richard Arvid Freeding Sr. in 1940, in Chicago. They resided in Chicago until 1955, when they moved to Wheating, Ill., and then eventually Madison. Louise was a homemaker and excelled in many areas. She enjoyed being a seamstress, embroidery, dancing, crafts, doll making, poetry, piano, gardening, cooking, and was a swim instructor well into her 60’s. Most of all, Louise loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was known to be a very strong, independent woman, always supportive, caring, understanding, and never judgmental.

Louise is survived by her children, Richard (Sharon) Freeding Jr. of Vancouver, Wash., Nancy Mahnke of Pewaukee, Sandra Freeding Myers of Whidbey Island, Wash., and Keith (Linda) Freeding of Minneapolis, Minn.; eight grandchildren and their spouses; seven great-grandchildren; along with numerous other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2003; her parents; and a brother, Robert.

Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, with the Rev. Bradley Homan presiding. Entombment will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Friday. Memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
