MADISON- Lilly M. Jensen, age 100, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2013. She was born Lilly Mae Sublette, January, 1913, in Florida. Lilly was a longtime resident in Monona and Madison’s east side. In her later years she resided at the Capitol Lakes Retirement Center and for the last two years at Saint Mary’s Care Center. In 1920 Lilly traveled with her father to Illinois where she was raised by her Aunt. She came to the Madison area in 1928. Lilly worked for Oscar Meyers, Wisconsin Central Colony and along with her husband Leonard, owned and operated the Dixie Cream Donut Shop & Restaurant.

She is survived by six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; her extended family, the DeMars; and daughters, Donna (Merlin) Schultz of Beaver Dam and Linda (Art) Cuccia of Fitchburg; and her cuddle companion, Moose.

Lilly was a remarkable and kind woman with an enormous capacity for happiness. Her bright smile and lust for life were undeniably unique and infectious. Many thanks to the staff at SMCC for their wonderful care and love they showed to Lilly.

A celebration of Lilly’s life will be held at a later date. In deference to Lilly’s wishes, in lieu of flowers, she requested donations be made to the Dane County Humane Society. “ See you on the moon Lilly Mae.” Online condolences may be made to www.gundersonfh.com.
