MADISON-Laura Lynn Ord, age 61, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013. Death was due to complications from a respiratory disease. She was born in Tacoma, Wash., on Dec. 20, 1951. She had a carefree early childhood and was doted on by her older brother, Mike, and sister, Cheryl, because of those big blue eyes, dimples, and smile that lit up the world. The family moved to California in 1960. Her school activities included caring for horses at a nearby stable and participating in local horse shows. After graduating from Reseda High School, she went on to work with horses. She rode her horse, Chance, in equestrian events as well as for pleasure. In later years, she worked in the restaurant business. Laurie was an avid animal lover beginning with a moth she named Sherbert. She treasured her horse, Chance, and her dogs, Jake and Chrissy. She enjoyed sports when she was young, especially baseball. Laurie continued to follow the Los Angeles Dodgers even after her move to Madison.

Laurie is survived by her mother, Mildred Ord, of Madison; sisters, Cheryl of New Hope, PA., and Jeanne Welton of Corona Del Mar, Calif.; brother, Larry of Essex, Calif.; niece, Amber Ord, of Petaluma, Calif.; nephew, Steve Ord, of Mountain View, Calif.; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Her father, Elam, and brothers, Michael and Roger, preceded her in death.

A Memorial Service for Laurie will be held at BLACKHAWK CHURCH, 9620 Brader Way, Middleton, at 1 p.m., on Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013. Online condolences may be made at
