La Crosse Aquinas tops Lodi, takes Div. 3 title

Senior guard Bronson Koenig scored 16 points as La Crosse Aquinas beat Lodi 53-48 to win the WIAA Division 3 state championship Saturday in Madison.

Koenig, who has committed to Wisconsin, was one of three players in double figures for the Blugolds (24-4), who won their second state title in three seasons.

Despite trailing by as many as 19 points, Lodi (24-4) cut the lead to 47-44 off a 12-0 run in the fourth quarter following a 3-pointer from Kris Seffrood. Although failing to make a field goal over the final 3:54, Aquinas went 6-for-6 from the free throw line in the final 1:17.

The Blue Devils got a game-high 19 points from Seffoord.
