Jury selection in Drabek-Chritton trial scheduled for Monday
A controversial and heavily-followed child neglect case will once again take center stage this week in Madison.
Jury selection is scheduled for Monday in the trial of Melinda Drabek-Chritton.
Drabek-Chritton is charged with child abuse, neglect, and false imprisonment.
She was arrested after her badly malnourished step-daughter was discovered last year, claiming that she was being held against her will in a basement.
Drabek-Chritton's trial, scheduled to last two weeks, should begin Tuesday.
Drabek-Chritton’s husband, Chad Chritton, was found guilty last month of two counts of neglecting a child.
But the court also declared a mistrial on four other charges after the jury remained deadlocked.
If the District Attorney demands it, Chritton could be re-tried.
But the judge says a re-trial would have to wait after the trials of his wife and stepson, Josh, who faces sex assault charges in this case.
