Joseph McDonald, Sr., 90, of Hillsboro, died Friday, January 18, 2013 at his home. He was born October 10, 1922 in Crawford County the son of Francis ‘Mac’ and Grace (Claybrook) McDonald. In November of 1953 he married Agnes Bouda in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mount Tabor. Joe farmed and worked for the Vernon County Highway Department. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and took pride in taking care of heavy machinery, both his own and for the Vernon County Highway Department. Joe had a skill for talking to everyone he met and he made them feel comfortable with his laughter and wit. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Joe is survived by two children, Joe McDonald, Jr. of Boaz, Kathy (Rick) Mix of La Crosse, two grandchildren, Matt Mix and Sheila (Devin) Larson, one great-granddaughter, Stella Larson, many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, wife Agnes, and brother Thomas McDonald.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mount Tabor, with burial to follow in church cemetery. Friends may call at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on Saturday, January 26, 2013 from 9:30 AM until the time of the services at 11:00 AM. The Seland Huston Funeral Home of LaFarge is assisting the family with their arrangements. Online condolences can be made at prattfuneralservice.com.
