John Francis "Jack" Donovan

Madison-John Francis “Jack” Donovan, age 75, passed away on January 19, 2013 at the William S. Middleton Memorial Veteran’s Hospital following complications from influenza.

Jack was born on June 22, 1937 in Madison, WI, the second of two sons born to Mr. and Mrs. John Donovan. Jack Joined the Army at the age of eighteen, and served three years. He was honorably discharged and was proud to be a veteran.

Jack loved to travel. He took many spontaneous trips over the years, including a trip to Hawaii.

Jack always greeted everyone with a wry smile. He was a long term member of the Program of Assertive Community Treatment, where he had been an active participant. He frequented PACT outings and always had a kind word for others. Jack appreciated the support he received in his early years from the Port of St. Vincent. He enjoyed living his last years making Timberwood his home.

Jack is survived by his brother, Gerald “Jerry” (Joan) Donovan; nephews, Steve (Ann), Dan (Judith) and Don (Leah) Donovan; his Timberwood family, especially his friend and caretaker, Rick and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jack maintained a strong sense of Faith throughout his life. A funeral service in honor of Jack’s life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Ryan Funeral Home, 2418 N. Sherman Ave. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service on Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.

May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face, and the rain fall soft upon your field; and until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of His hand.
