Joan Kathleen Flad

Joan Kathleen Flad, 68, of Madison, WI., passed away after a valiant struggle on Tuesday, January 22, 2013. Joan was born on July 30, 1944 to Thomas H. & Eileen (Crowley) Flad, the third of eight children. Joan died peacefully surrounded by her loving family. As always, she kept her great wit and dry sense of humor to the end. Joan had great love and strong support for the UW Badgers, Green Bay Packers and the Edgewood Community. Joan will be greatly missed by her family, loved ones and her fellow workers and customers at Micron Business Systems, which she was a part of for 30 years.

She is survived by her seven siblings, Joe (Kathy) Flad of Oostburg, WI., Mary (Frank) Balistreri of Bloomington, MN., Rita (David) McCaffrey of Chicago, IL., Steve (Mary) Flad of Winona, MN., Charles (Pam) Flad of Sun Prairie, WI., Pauline (Rick) Gullick of Vail, AZ., Patty Flad of Denver, CO.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas & Eileen Flad.

The family extends a deep and heartfelt thank you to the wonderful staff at the UW Dialysis West Clinic, the Carbone Caner Center and Agrace Hospice Care for their outstanding support and guidance.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 28, 2013 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 2131 Rowley Ave., Madison, WI. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass on Monday at the church. A private burial will take place at Resurrection Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials can be sent to Edgewood High School, University of Wisconsin Dialysis Clinic, or Carbone Cancer Center.
