House fire displaces Baraboo family

BARABOO, Wis. -

Baraboo firefighters were dispatched to 613 2nd Ave. just after noon on Saturday for a report of smoke coming from the roofline of the home.

Upon arrival of the first fire department unit, firefighters said they saw light to moderate smoke coming from the roof line of the single story home.

Firefighters made entry into the home started a search for occupants. The main body of fire was extinguished but there was extensive overhaul work that needed to be done for to ensure the fire was completely out.

There were no injuries.

Fire officials said the family was away at relatives at the time of the fire. The homeowner said the family will be staying with relatives.

There was extensive damage to the living room, where the fire began, with significant heat and smoke damage to the remaining interior of the home, according to fire officials.

The exact cause is still under investigation but fire and police investigators said the fire is not suspicious.
